New Essays
Portal Pessoa is pleased to announce the publication of two new essays.
The first, ‘Sobre a exumação sistemática da arca’, is a specially comissioned piece written by Jerónimo Pizarro, who is completing a PhD on Fernando Pessoa at the University of Harvard. He has recently published a book, in two volumes, about genius and madness in Fernando Pessoa (Escritos sobre génio e loucura, Lisbon: Imprensa Nacional – Casa da Moeda, 2006). This work comprises the writings Pizarro found on the theme in Pessoa’s famous trunk, including a large amount of previously unpublished material. The article we here publish describes Pizarro’s thoughts concerning his painstaking archival research.
The second essay is a remarkably clear and thorough analysis of Mensagem, titled ‘As Mensagens da Mensagem’. It was written by Nuno Hipólito, an amateur researcher who has his own site on Fernando Pessoa, which can be viewed at http://omj.no.sapo.pt/index.htm, as well as a blog linked to the site: http://umfernandopessoa.blogspot.com/
